Commenter on the "10 Cars That Totally Changed Our Minds" article...

A) Thinks the Volt is a Mild Hybrid.

B) Says the Volt was originally said to be fully electric.

C) Thinks that ONE Motor Trend Article released back in 2010 has all the right answers to the Volt.

Haters gonna hate.

I did a ton of research on the Volt last year for a project and let me tell you, it's way more than the Prius will ever be. Really, it's a genius car.

Just doesn't look as crazy and out there as the concept.

Even though I always thought it was kinda ugly...

drove one not long ago. Seemed nice, a little fat and a few GM quirks but I could definitely be into it and considering its age now, its pretty great.

For commutes, they're really good, but everything else, not so much. it's really cramped inside (worse than the Cruze), the dash is HUMUNGOUS, visibility is not very good (Notably at the back). it does what it says on the tin, and seems to sacrifice a lot to achieve it.

Weird, I'm 6'3" and sat behind my (rather short) mom and felt fine. I've heard some say it's cramped and others say it's not.

Either way, maybe next generation will be roomier to appease everyone.

To me, it's the most innovative (and my second favourite, behind the Corvette) vehicle the General has ever made. When explaining how it works, I compare it to a Diesel-Electric locomotive. The petrol motor is just a generator, it doesn't do the driving...

I was gonna argue the EV-1 might be a little more innovative, but then I remembered all the systems on the Volt that have to work absolutely seamlessly for it to work right.

Every review I've read of it seemed pretty damn positive as well.

It's just those people who hate GM for "stealing their tax dollars" who usually hate on it. As well as everything else they make because they think their cars still suck ass. Which, if they'd read a review for one, isn't close to true.
